I have several years of classroom experience teaching everything from Algebra 1 to Calculus. I also revel in taking deep dives into more foundational subjects such as fractions, area, and whether 8÷2×4 is 16 or 1 (and why it’s 16).

I think virtual tutoring is great. We both get to save on gas, so you can also save on my rate.
It takes a bit more orchestrating up front, so please contact me before you book your first virtual setting unless you’re an old pro and are certain of your equipment, internet connection, and familiarity with virtual meetings.

If you’re interested in a group rate for a study group or homeschool sessions, please contact me.

I have had clients message me at 8pm because they had sports or rehearsal late and totally spaced that they had a test the next day. When I was able I was happy to help, but it cost extra. If you have an emergency, I may be available. Text me before 8:30 pm and we’ll see what we can work out.

Not sure yet? I understand. I’d be happy to meet with you for an initial session to make sure we’re a good fit. If I’m not for you, no problem. If you decide to continue, I will apply your payment for this session to our next meeting.

If my posted rates are a strain, please contact me. I have slots open for sliding scale sessions. No documentation needed, just let me know.

Why ask why?
Why do we multiply before we add? Why does a negative times a negative equal a positive? Why do we need common denominators? Why does the quadratic formula work? Why can I just multiply some probabilities together, but not others? Why does the chain rule work?
I love answering these questions and others that get to the heart of mathematics. It’s important to understand HOW, but math becomes a drudgery of rote memorization and drill-and-kill practice unless we dare to occasionally ask WHY. Asking why develops an intuitive understanding of math that reduces math anxiety, builds confidence for tests, and makes new material easier to pick up.
My name is Jason Stewart, and I would love to explore the why and how of math with you or your student. I have 13 years of teaching experience. I have loved tutoring math starting in my high school years, continuing through college and into the present. If you or your student would like to develop an intuition about math, shore up your skills to stave off the summer slide, or prepare for an upcoming test, please call, text, or email me.
